What is the difference??

  • Ultrasound image showing a fetus in the womb.

    2D Imaging

The most common form of ultrasound that produces a two-dimensional, black and white image.

  • 3D ultrasound image of a baby

    3D Imaging

Three-dimensional ultrasound images are a compilation of 2D images taken from multiple different angles to create your 3D image.

  • 3D ultrasound image of a baby in the womb

    4D Imaging

Four dimensional ultrasound is basically the same as 3D images, except they show movement. With 4D imaging you can watch your baby move, suck their thumb, and yawn.

  • 3D ultrasound of a fetus

    HD Imaging

HD imaging also known as 5D imaging, is the next level up from 4D. With more developed software, you can obtain images with much more detail allowing parents to see more characteristics of their baby!

  • An ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the inside of the body. It is commonly used during pregnancy to monitor the development of the fetus, but can also be used to visualize other organs such as the heart, liver, and kidneys.

  • Yes! Ultrasound uses sound waves (not radiation) and is widely considered safe when performed appropriately. Our sessions follow the recommended guidelines for comfort and safety!

  • The best time is typically between 26-36 weeks of pregnancy. During this window, your baby has developed more facial features while still having enough room to move for clear images.

  • With 2D imaging, we can determine gender of baby as early as 15 weeks, however the further along you are, the higher the accuracy.

We also are a SneakPeek Clinical site where we can do the Early Gender DNA testing as early as 6 weeks!

  • No referral is needed. Our ultrasounds are elective and non-diagnostic, meaning they are intended for bonding and keepsake purposes - not medical diagnosis.

  • Yes! We encourage you to bring loved ones to share this special moment! If you do bring children, please make sure to bring someone with you to help supervise them.

  • 1st Trimester: come with a full-ish bladder, bring something cold to drink, and have a sweet treat on your way to the studio.

2nd/3rd Trimester: you DO NOT need a full bladder at this point in your pregnancy. Be sure to bring a cold drink with you and have a sweet treat on your way to the studio.

💧Also increase your water intake for 1 week prior to you scheduled appointment to ensure there is adequate fluid around the baby.

  • Elective ultrasounds are typically NOT covered by insurance, as they are not a medical procedure.

We have had good luck with accepting HSA/FSA cards for payment in the studio.

  • It happens! We offer numerous tips and tricks during your session to encourage movement. If baby still does not cooperate, we will offer a complimentary rescan per sonographer.

  • You will NOT receive a refund if images are not acquired. We will do everything in our power to get you images of your baby. However, there can be obstacles that are out of our control such as baby's position, amount of amniotic fluid, placental position, etc. If we are unable to obtain images due to these kinds of circumstances, you may be eligible for a complimentary rescan. This will ONLY be determined by the performing sonographer.

  • Recording and taking any kind of video of the ultrasound scan is NOT allowed with Life in Bloom Sonography Studio. You will receive a text message with a link where you can instantly download any images/videos that were obtained during your scan.

With permission from the performing sonographer, you may be able to Facetime family members/friends if they are unable to attend in person.
